Cartoon Carnival #95: Come On Out!
at The City Reliquary
370 Metropolitan Ave., Brooklyn.
Sunday, June 27th, 2021
It's the moment we've all been waiting more than a year for: the big return of 16mm (no digital!) animated cartoons from the 1920s through the 1940s, straight from the Stathes Archives—screened *in person* at a beloved venue—The City Reliquary's lovely backyard, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!

For program #95, our nearly two hours of animated fun shine the spotlight on two things that many of us have sorely missed over the past year: going places, and being out on the town with friends and crowds. The selection of shorts features a wide array of Cartoon Carnival favorites...from silent era superstars Bobby Bumps, Farmer Alfalfa, Koko the Clown, and Felix; to the Van Beuren Studios' Tom & Jerry (not the cat and mouse!) and Molly Moo Cow; then onward with Krazy Kat, Buddy, Egghead, and even Gumby—plus a few other oddities and surprises mixed in, as always. In acknowledgement of Pride Month, we're also selecting a couple of 1930s shorts with brief cameos from queer-coded characters, whom we lovingly reclaim as part of our LGBTQIA+ inclusive Cartoon Carnival family.

Be sure to bring all your family and friends out for this much-anticipated opportunity to see these classic and now-rare cartoons the way they were meant to be seen—projected on 'reel' film, and enjoyed with a physical audience!

The City Reliquary will have bar refreshments and popcorn available, and you may also BYO food. Please support the venue for all drinks consumed. Cash only.

A limited number of (masked) people will be permitted indoors for restrooms, or to browse the museum collections.

Face masks must be worn at all times. Guests may remove masks outdoors when they are seated distantly or to drink.

Hand sanitizer will be available for all.

ACCESSIBILITY
The main entrance and indoor museum are entirely flat, but there are 4 steps up and 4 steps down to the backyard. The backyard is uneven with some platforms, but a paved area near the entrance is available with a view of the stage.

If the price is keeping you from coming to the show, contact us and we will do our best to help, no questions asked.

Email Charlotte at charlotte.chauvin.97@gmail.com with any questions or needs, and we'll be happy to figure out if and how we can accommodate you.

WHAT IS THE CITY RELIQUARY?
Reliquaries typically house the ostensible bones of dead saints. We house the bones of New York City. From seltzer bottles to schist cores, to roller skates from racially integrated rinks, to a burnt out lightbulb from the Statue of Liberty's torch. These artifacts as the backdrop, we aim to support artists and our Brooklyn community with a plethora of creative and cultural programming.

WHY MEMBERSHIP?
In exchange for your ongoing support as a member, you'll receive free admission to the museum as often as you care to visit, free tickets to all events, free beverages when possible, and—we hope— a tiny New York City historical institution to call your own.

Sustaining monthly memberships help us predict our finances, and survive through and beyond this pandemic. We are entirely volunteer-run and currently have no paid staff. Our community means the world to us, and we would love for you to be a part of it.

If you are not yet a member and buy a ticket, you will be asked after payment if you would like to contribute your ticket price toward membership. What a deal!

WHAT ELSE?
Please come prepared to tip the performers via cash, Venmo, or Cash App.

Drinks can be purchased from our bar with cash (preferred) or Venmo.
