On July 2, join Goethe-Institut, Gray Area, Fotomuseum Winterthur, and Artivive for a presentation, panel discussion, and virtual gallery launch with the finalists of the global open call Visualizing Bias with Augmented Reality. From March 1 through May 23, 2021, we invited artists, designers, and the general public to submit creative representations on the subject of bias and technology’s growing ability to alter people’s visual perception of reality, and we hosted 5 global Augmented Reality workshops across the US, Canada, and China.
Submissions explored discriminatory, misrepresentational, and biased apparatuses and expressed thought-provoking ideas on how to deal with the perpetuation of bias by technology.
An international jury comprised of artists, curators, and researchers had the difficult task of selecting the ten best designs from over 150 submissions. The 3 finalists amongst the 10 selected projects will present their respective works and take part in a panel discussion. The event will also celebrate the launch of a virtual gallery.
