On March 3, pianist, composer and storyteller David Haney will bring a multi-media performance of New York Jazz Stories to Rhizome. New York Jazz Stories features some highly entertaining stories retold by David Haney. These are real stories told directly to Haney, transcribed and brought to life .
This performance features audio and video footage in addition to the live performance. Audio from Annie Ross, Lorraine Gordon, and Roswell Rudd.

Born in Fresno, CA, USA in 1955, David Haney grew up in Calgary, Canada. He studied composition for five years with Czech American composer Tomas Svoboda. He has been a member of The Society of Oregon composers and his works have been performed in Europe, USA, Canada, and South America. Since 1997, the following improvising artists have worked with David on his projects: Roswell Rudd, Julian Priester, John Tchicai, Steve Swell, Roy Campbell, Bud Shank, Wolter Weirbos, Han Bennink, Andrew Cyrille, Bernard Purdie, Marvin Bugulu Smith, Gerry Hemingway, Dylan Van de Schiff, Buell Neidlinger, Dominic Duval, Adam Lane, Michael Bisio, Paul Blaney, Perry Robinson, Johannes Bauer. As a leader, Haney has over 20 albums on CIMP-USA, Cadence-USA, SLAM-UK, NoSeSo-Argentina, La Gorda-Argentina, Canada Jazz Studio-Canada.
