Join writer and organizer Daniel Sherrell and acclaimed novelist Amitav Ghosh in conversation about their new books. Sherrell’s Warmth: Coming of Age at the End of Our World (https://bluestockings.com/item/rBSsMLeAZlai8Pu2FYWkpw)—at once a memoir, a love letter, and an electric work of criticism--goes to the heart of the defining question of our time: “how do we go on in a world that may not?” Ghosh’s The Nutmeg’s Curse: Parables for a Planet in Crisis (https://bluestockings.com/item/9ZxRdsPjguvwq47qRYIvkQ) is a powerful work of history, essay, testimony, and polemic, that finds the origins of our contemporary climate crisis in Western colonialism’s violent exploitation of human life and the natural environment.

Daniel Sherrell is an organizer born in 1990. He helped lead the campaign to pass landmark climate justice legislation in New York and is the recipient of a Fulbright grant in creative nonfiction. He currently serves as Campaign Director for the Climate Jobs National Resource Center. Warmth is his first book.

Amitav Ghosh is an award-winning novelist and essayist whose books include The Circle of Reason, The Shadow Lines; In an Antique Land; Dancing in Cambodia; The Calcutta Chromosome; The Glass Palace; The Hungry Tide; the Ibis Trilogy: Sea of Poppies, River of Smoke, and Flood of Fire; and The Great Derangement, the latter also published by the University of Chicago Press.
