Imagine a space designed to elicit a response. A place so alive with art and stimulus that everyone who experiences it leaves with the seeds of inspiration already sprouting in their minds. Each chamber contains an intentional mix of visual art and poetry, performance and lighting design, fragrances and soundscapes, all unified in their mission to awaken your aesthetic impulse.

Milk Press Happenings is an event series designed to generate artistic collaborations. Each Happening results in a Milk Press publishing project derived from the work that is presented and created on-site.

This Milk Press (@milkpressbooks) event, produced by The Poetry Society of New York (@poetrysocietyny) is PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN thanks to a City Artist Corps (#CityArtistCorps) grant from the New York Foundation on the Arts (@nyfacurrent), NYC's Department of Cultural Affairs (@NYCulture), Made in New York (@MadeinNY), and Queens Theatre (@QueensTheatre).

Masks are required for all inside the building of The City Reliquary, where you will check in and walk through to our backyard. Masks may be taken off outside in the backyard where the shows are, where you will have ample room to social distance if you choose. Please respect other’s space.

We have heightened cleanliness procedures and hand sanitizer and masks available.

WHAT IS THE CITY RELIQUARY?
Reliquaries typically house the ostensible bones of dead saints. We house the bones of New York City. From seltzer bottles to schist cores, roller skates from racially integrated rinks, and a burnt out lightbulb from the Statue of Liberty's torch. All these and many more artifacts are in our collection, ready to be shared with our community.

Since our founding in 2002, The City Reliquary has been collecting, preserving, and sharing pieces of New York City. Now more than ever the stories of every New Yorker need to be told.

We use this space to breathe new life into New York city, with not only our incredible collection of interactive historical exhibits, but continuous and stimulating programming, arts, and events.
