CT::SWaM ExChange is a monthly meet-up at the Fridman Gallery Media Room focussed on multi-channel works and spatial sound. These meetings provide a platform for exchanging ideas, for listening to contemporary and historical pieces, hosting presentations, demos, talks and workshops, and for developing an ongoing discourse around spatial sound.

WISE is a curatorial platform supporting & showcasing women-identified and non-binary artists working in sonic media & experiential arts; expanding configurations of context, technology, time and space.

ARTIST BIOS:

Viv Corringham 

Viv Corringham is a British vocalist and sound artist, active since the late 1970s. Her work includes concerts, soundwalks, radio works and multi-channel installations. She is interested in exploring people's sense of place and the link with personal history
and memory. She studied and worked with Pauline Oliveros for many years and holds a Certificate to teach Deep Listening. She facilitates workshops in listening and sounding, most recently in Hong Kong, London, Bangalore, New York, Kolkata and Manila. She received two Composer Fellowships from McKnight Foundation, through American Composers Forum. Her work has received international recognition and been presented in twenty five countries on five continents. Recent work has been presented at Issue Project Room New York Electronic Art Festival, Hong Kong Arts Centre Multichannel Festival, Universities in Bangalore,
Calcutta and Delhi, Ftarri Tokyo, Cafe Oto London, Ohrenhoch Sound Gallery Berlin, Taipei University Taiwan, Shantou University China, Onassis Centre Athens Borderline Festival, Institute of Contemporary Art London Soundworks Festival, Brussels Tempo al
Tempo Festival, London Discovery Festival, Echoes from Invisible Landscapes Festival Alp-Adriatic Region and Superbudda Torino.

C. Lavender

C. Lavender is a Hudson Valley, New York-based sound artist, sound healing practitioner, and educator whose work spans through live performance, recording, installations, videos, compositions, and workshops. She seeks to create an immersive aural landscape for the listener, an experience which is intensely physical, emotional and ultimately cathartic as noted in a performance review from the Village Voice; "downright iconic, charged with meaning and transgression."

C. Lavender has performed, lectured and hosted workshops at Hirshhorn Museum, Issue Project Room, The Rubin Museum of Art, MoMA PS1, The Stone, The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Fridman Gallery, The New School, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute among other venues. In 2016 she taught a ten-week class for children about the scientific and artistic aspects of sound. C. Lavender has albums and recordings featured on the labels Ecstatic Peace!, RVNG Intl, Primitive Languages, and Hot Releases.

Victoria Keddie

Victoria Keddie is an artist working within cross disciplines.
Keddie holds an MA degree from New York University and a BFA from University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Mobility Fellowship at the California College of Arts in San Francisco, CA. Keddie is the Co-Director of E.S.P. TV, a nomadic TV studio that hybridizes technologies to realize synthetic environments and deconstruct the televisual for live performance. She teaches Advanced Televisual Broadcast at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, and has lectured at: Columbia University with the Sound Arts MFA program; Arts at Carnegie Mellon University; Cranbrook Academy of Art; School of Film and Video at Pratt University; University of Colorado, Boulder; Dept of Media Studies / Intermediate Sound at PNCA; University of Oregon,Eugene; and Hunter College in New York City; Bennington College. She has been an invited resident artist at the Storefront for Art and Architecture; Recess Gallery; AZ Wagon Station Encampment; Signal Culture; Pioneer Works ; WaveFarm; and Yaddo Artist Residency; Saari Fellow with the The Kone Foundation in Mynämäki,Finland (September 1-November 1, 2018), and is current resident artist at The Drawing Center in New York City (April 2018-April 2020).

Keddie has performed and exhibited internationally at venues and festivals such as, The Barbican, Fridman Gallery, The Swiss Institute, Pioneer Works,The Kitchen, Museum of Moving Image, The Museum of Art and Design, Queens Museum of Art, Microscope Gallery, and Anthology Film Archives (NYC), Human Resources (Los Angeles), Lightcone, (Paris), Syros International Film Festival (Syros, Greece), Studio XX (Montreal), LOOP Festival (Barcelona), Pallas Projects (Dublin), Reykjavik Arts Festival (Reykjavik), General Public (Berlin), Axis Art Centre (Crew), The Independent Film Festival (Naples), Liste Art Fair (Basel), Seeing Sound Festival (Bath), and Daimon (Gatineau).
