A 2-hour "Feldenkrais for Improvisers" workshop would consist of two parts:
1. I would lead the group in a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement class. This would take about an hour. Everyone would need to bring yoga or exercise mats. We would need space on the floor to do this. If needed, we can do a class in sitting but if space allows, on the floor would be better.
2. After a break, we can do some sound exploration using the Feldenkrais principles of curiosity, exploration, and observation without evaluation. This part can be organized in different ways depending on the number of participants. If we have more than 4 or 5, it would be great if we can have small groups go into their own rooms/spaces to explore without too many extra sounds.
For those who cannot join us in person, this workshop can be experienced from their home.
This workshop might be most useful for those who are interested in improvising but are too shy, self-conscious, or inexperienced. Those who improvise on acoustic instruments would get more out of this workshop than those who only use electronic instruments. Anyone can benefit from the first hour of the workshop, no matter if they are musicians or not.
