Fire Over Heaven rescheduled for Thursday, January 19th with a new lineup! While we are sad that Wendy Eisenberg wasn't able to make the new date, we are absolutely thrilled to have Philly's Totally Automatic to fill the Wendy-shaped hole in our hearts. This trio features saxophonist Matthew Smith Lee cutting angular lines through the noise-rhythm dialogue of drummers Eugene Lew and Anne Ishii. When she's not behind the kit, Anne is also a writer, purveyor of queer manga and head honcho of Philly's righteous Asian Arts Initiative ... Violinist Kyle GoGwilt and double bassist Kyle Motl formed their duo, Treesearch, while students at UCSD, and fortunately for us, brought this project with them when they both relocated east. Their chamber hyper focused improvisations seem intent on mining the possibilities, both delicate and immediate, of acoustic bowed strings.
