In this workshop, we will zoom out from heteronormative relationship expectations and gender roles to get to the foundation of what makes a healthy relationship.

We will:
Learn about recognizing relationship red flags
Identify types of abuse
Discuss navigating challenges unique to queer partnerships
Talk about building a safety plan to escape an abusive situation

TurnAround's mission is to educate, empower, and advocate for all people impacted by intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. TurnAround is the area’s designated rape crisis center and launched the state's first anti-trafficking program of its kind. TurnAround is one of the state's most comprehensive domestic violence service providers and runs a certified Abuser Intervention Program.

Eden is a Black queer nonbinary femme from Baltimore, MD. As certified sex educator, they provide a unique perspective in the sexual violence prevention field. They pull from a combination of lived experience, community input, and 15+ years of studying human sexuality and relationship behaviors. In the role of TurnAround’s Prevention Education and Training Coordinator, they deliver impactful prevention education trainings throughout Baltimore City and County to promote boundary setting, bystander intervention, and self-accountability as primary tools in creating safer spaces for people of marginalized identities. They draw inspiration from Black femme powerhouses like bell hooks, adrienne maree brown, and Janelle Monae.
