Platonic* is a personal exploration of friendship as a young adult growing up in America. Each note is driven by its own genre--the personal statement, choose your own adventure, text message--through which Sarah holds their personal experiences up to the light, yearning for what it can mean to be friends. The collection itself is based entirely on years of conversations with friends.

Sarah Soriano-Martin is an interdisciplinary artist who works across multiple mediums. Drawing from their background in documentary, performance, sound art, and storytelling, their work: envisions the future of families through the lens of alternative relationship and family structures, explores collective multiracial movements through labor and spiritual-based organizing, traverses connections between ideas of freewill and restorative justice practices, and celebrates love outside of gender binaries and across cultural boundaries. They often pull from verbatim and participatory performance art traditions with a strong focus on call and response as well as ensemble-based work. During their residency at Rhizome Sarah will be exploring platonic love with a culminating event on July 2, 2023.
