They say love makes you crazy…
From Tamra Davis (BILLY MADISON and CROSSROADS) and screenwriter Matthew Bright (FREEWAY I and II) comes the film that proved Drew Barrymore, the Little Girl Lost, had finally found her way.
When a geography assignment calls for students to correspond with fellow teens, Anita (Barrymore in a star-making performance) finds a new pal in… not the faraway lands of Australia, Brazil, or Japan, but the exotic locale of the California state lock-up in Chino. Soon it becomes clear that — more than friendship, she’s found a great love in Howard (James Le Gros), an ex-con with a heart of gold and a head for halfcocked schemes. Thereafter, the pair hits the road with no desire grander than the next town over, Fresno, and along the way, make pit stops for the requisite murder, robbery, and Sonic Youth needle-drop.
Like a trailer trash BONNIE AND CLYDE set to Suicidal Tendencies, GUNCRAZY is absolutely iconic. Co-starring cult stars Billy Drago and Joe Dallesandro of the Warhol and Morrissey trilogy FLESH, TRASH, and HEAT.
