Bring your stories and your resources to help compile a community-driven bibliography of neighborhood history from below.

Join us for an evening of collaborative, participatory research into the history of Waverly (and Abell, and Better Waverly, and all the other neighborhoods oriented around Greenmount Avenue).
What are the key community struggles that have shaped the Waverly area? What role have developers and real estate capital played in driving inequality and segregation? What are the alternative spaces—co-ops, people's clinics, queer night clubs, feminist collectives—whose history is in danger of being lost or marginalized? Who have been the unsung heroes of community life? What books, articles, and archives already exist? What needs to be written or created? And how can this history be mobilized to support organizing and activism at the neighborhood level today?

Depending on the level of interest, this may develop into a larger ongoing project (oral histories? walking tours? a collaborative zine?)—but the goal for this first session will be to assemble, potluck style, a bibliography of resources and a shared understanding of where the gaps in the historical archive are.
