A Godardian riff from The Land Down Under. Bert Deling’s directorial debut follows an ex-cop whose quest to find the man who killed his partner lands him in a seaside commune among a group of LSD enthusiasts. Made on a collective basis with members of the experimental performance group The Tribe, Dalmas spins a classic pulp narrative into a thought-provoking inquiry into the process of filmmaking itself.
