EMILY JEANNE BROWN:
Emily Jeanne Brown’s music speaks to the crossing of thresholds: from childhood to adulthood, from west to east coast, from a pre- to a post-pandemic world. A lifelong singer trained as a Shakespearean actor, Brown began her foray into recording during quarantine, with a minimal but visceral cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “i’m on fire”, which quickly garnered tens of thousands of streams. Since then, she has released a string of original singles that are “a natural fit with the current movement of women in indie-folk pop [boygenius, Maggie Rogers, Fiona Apple, HAIM, Phoebe Bridgers, Sharon Van Etten or even Taylor Swift’s latest work]” (Aptly Journal), and is known for curating sold out, community-focused shows at New York venues such as Rockwood Music Hall and The Owl Music Parlor. Emily recently released the first single from her debut EP, ‘Past Life’, through YouTooCanWoo’s singer/songwriter imprint, Sunken Living Room, co-written and produced by Deidre Muro (Deidre and the Dark, Violet Sands, Savior Adore).
