Brad Kronz–performing under the guise of UK Brad–is inspired as much by Ye’s (the rapper formerly known as Kanye West) long-winded samples as he is by the sound college of post-Formen letzter Hausmusik Asmus Tietchens. In his debut album, à la une, Kronz offers rarities from his own unreleased back catalog submerging his past experiments on organ and guitar in a wash of found sounds and edits culminating in the albums centerpiece an extended sample of “Siamese Twins.” While the music is full of jagged left turns and conflicting emotional states, Kronz’s bracketing and cutting flattens lachrymose and melancholic moments pushing the listener towards a disembodied dreamstate. UK Brad builds and maintains intrigue by embracing the contradictory and unexpected. This is his first solo live performance.
