EXHIBITING FAILURE: October 6-28, 2024

What can failure offer when success in our current extractive colonial-capitalist society is destructive and exploitative?

EXHIBITING FAILURE is an unorthodox celebration of artworks that have been rejected. As a joyful resistance to empire, capitalism, militarism and genocide, this show celebrates cherished gems that didn’t make the empire cut. The exhibit includes multimedia, 2D visual art, sculpture, poetry and performance-based art. EXHIBITING FAILURE has been a rejectionless process, with the goal of showing every submission in some way.

OPENING EVENT: Sunday, October 6, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
CLOSING EVENT: Monday, October 28, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Both events will feature performances, a chance to meet the artists and light refreshments.

Tickets for both events can be purchased online or at the door. Proceeds will be donated to Palestinian Children's Relief Fund and Sudanese American Physicians Association, with a small percentage going to Rhizome DC, this unique volunteer-run community-based inclusive art space!

We strongly urge you to wear a fitted mask at the event.

The gallery space at Rhizome is not an accessible venue. Works will be displayed on the second floor, only accessible by stairs. Some performances at the opening and closing events will occur on the first floor, which is accessible via a ramp. For access questions, contact fidthompson@gmail.com.
