Join us for a launch of the Breaking Bread series, a community dinner hosted at Mayday Space in collaboration with leading social justice organizations. Our aim is to bring together members of grassroots groups and the politically-engaged public to sharpen our strategies, celebrate our wins, and strengthen our movements for transformative change.

For our inaugural gathering, we’re thrilled to partner with Housing Justice for All, the people power behind the recent massively historic victory for tenants rights across New York State. Come learn how they beat back the landlord lobby, how this movement expanded the horizon of what’s politically possible, and learn what is next in the struggle to make the universal right to housing a reality.
HOW THE BREAKING BREAD SERIES WORKS: During each gathering, the partner group has 30 minutes to present their victories, challenges, and lessons learned with those assembled. This is a chance to create connections between issues, and for organizations to solicit volunteers, donors or campaign advice (if desired) in whatever format they choose. The Mayday crew then serves a free, home-cooked meal during which conversations on movement strategy and community-building continue around the dinner table.
MORE ABOUT THIS MONTH’S PARTNER: Housing Justice for All is a campaign led by the Upstate Downstate Housing Alliance. We are a diverse coalition of tenants, homeless people, manufactured housing residents, and advocates. We are united in our fight for stronger tenant protections, an end to evictions, and an end to homelessness in New York.
ACCESSIBILITY: Childcare and Spanish interpretation available. This event is taking place on Mayday’s 3rd floor Great Hall up two flights (unfortunately no elevator).
RSVP: Please use the WithFriends link above (click “tickets”) to secure your seat at the table.
PLUG IN: If you are a member of a grassroots group that might want to partner with Mayday in a future Breaking Bread dinner gathering or would like to volunteer to support the Aug 22nd event, contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
