DisCakes was born out of a necessity to radically self express, build community and divest from an uniformed nightlife realm. DisCakes organizes parties, panels, video shows and community events with the intention of uniting marginalized communities and providing safer spaces for radical love and open artistic expression for QTILGB+ POC. DisCakes works to connect people globally and redistribute wealth to artists and djs who are key players in our underground dance community rather then just profiting off of their image. We are driven by creating platforms for underrepresented voices in dance culture and curating events that empower, uplift and inspire our community to express themselves freely without judgement in the face of our impending fascist leadership.

REMEDI FOOD was founded with the intention of making real, ethically sourced, mindfully prepared and nutritionally bountiful food accessible to New Yorkers of all socioeconomic backgrounds who find solace and liberation in nightlife. Rather than muting transformative experiences on and off the dance floor with alcohol, harmful substances and genetically manipulated nutritionally void food, we provide sustenance that fuels the experience of total liberation and communal resistance unique to underground dance culture. The name Remedi was inspired by the practice of bio(remedi)ation, the act of restoring damaged or corrupted soil with the introduction of helpful microorganisms. Instead of submitting to debaucherous nightlife nihilism and the harmful belief that it's too late to mend our planet, by educating our community and reducing our reliance on ecologically harmful materials and agriculturally homogeneous produce at our events, we aim to be macroorganisms that help remediate the soil of the human condition that causes our planet and people harm.
In response to the recent horrors the Indigenous people of Brasil have faced, both collectives are coming together to raise funds for APIB, Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil. The APIB is Brasil's national indigenous movement. APIB is coordinated by Sonia Guajajara, indigenous environmental rights activist and politician. APIB has been strengthening and mobilizing the indigenous peoples unity and articulation among the different regions and indigenous organizations in the country with movements such as the freelance project. You can read more about APIB here... http://apib.info
DISCAKES has booked a sickening lineup of DJ's in the back room to keep you satisfied until sunrise, including crowd favorites VOLVOX, XIORRO, PRINCESS PEGGIE, SHE MARLEY MARL, PAULI CAKES, DEE DIGS, GOODROID & ANT PUKE. We're so grateful to these artists for donating their time, energy and talent to this cause.
REMEDI FOOD will be transforming the front room into an edible altar, complete with a VIBAMINS fountain and an immersive information booth with zines about how to best utilize your privilege to help Brasil's indigenous population recover from the horror they recently faced and continue to grapple with. Unlike many performative activist nightlife collectives profiting off of fundraising events, we will be providing receipts showing we're donating 100% of proceeds from this event to their Vakinha (a brazilian fundraising platform) here...
