After a critically acclaimed run of Found, in collaboration with Mason Holdings and featuring the artwork of Mikel Glass, nancy manocherian’s the cell is proud to announce Open Studio @ the cell - a new initiative that will keep Glass’ work open to the public along with an array of interactive activities, events and new works presented by emerging artists, theatremakers, and choreographers.

On Thursday, November 21st, the cell will host a reception honoring Rachel Rampleman’s video art featured in Found. Rampleman showcases exuberantly bold and irrepressible personalities who revel in challenging common clichés associated with masculinity and femininity. The gallery will also host Triple Moon Goddess by Jana Astanov, Ronit Levin Delgado and Claire Zakiewicz. Cellist performance by Jacob Cohen. The work divides the female life into three main stages of personal development and social standing: maiden, mother and crone. Utilizing the ancient gnosis, they will perform a movement and light-based ritual in reverence of the Moon cycles - weaving the astral story into modern day goddess mythology.

return, an interactive and relational piece created in response to the art of Mikel Glass, will be introduced in conjunction with OPEN STUDIO @ the cell. This experimental work was created by Allie Marotta & Fernando Moya Delgado with performances by Charlie Akre, Allie Marotta, Jackie Meissner, Fernando Moya Delgado, Sydney Tucker. The piece facilitates engagement with Glass’ work and investigates themes of home, collections, and childlike wonder and curiosity.

World-famous “Funtender” Rawb Lane will round out the reception with interactive drawings.
