Estamos Trio is an exploratory music ensemble formed through the cross-border Estamos Project founded by Thollem in 2010. The trio's first album, People's Historia, was released on Relative Pitch Records in 2013. Carmina Escobar and Milo Tamez (Extended Drumset / San Luis Potosí) join Thollem (Acoustic and Electric Keyboards / San José) in a multidimensional metaphonic adventure in sonic fields familiar, foreign and renewed. Their intention is realized in every sound and every breath, to experience the gathering together in this evaporating moment of pulsing energetic waves: the culmination of all time up to now. "An instantaneous and collective form of composition that opens a route to the oral heritage of the ancients." - Rui Eduardo Paes Jazz.pt https://thollem.com/estamostrio.html
*Unfortunately Milo is not able to join the trio for the tour. Thollem and Carmina will perform as a duo.

Jim Ryan's DC CURRENT is making its inaugural Washington appearance at Rhizome DC. Jim is taking this occasion to introduce his original keyboard approach. To aficionados of free-form jazz, Jim's work on saxophone and flute is known through hundreds of concerts and over a dozen CD recordings issued by Edgetone Records in San Francisco. Jim has performed on the jazz-inspired, free-improv music scene since the early 1970s in Paris, France, participating in weekly jam sessions held by Steve Lacy and gigging with his own group the Free Music Formation. Back in the U.S. he played in DC during the 80s with the Art Performance Group, and in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 90s & 2000s with his powerhouse Forward Energy band. Jim is a multi-instrumentalist (winds&brass and now keys) and a spoken-word artist. Now based in the DC area, he has been working regularly with Nik Francis,a DC based drummer and composer of electro-acoustic music, who drives the group. The group also includes Sarah Hughes, a well-known master of flute and saxophone who performs frequently in the area, and the ubiquitous Steve Arnold on electric and contrabass.
