Clay Chaplin
Clay Chaplin is a sound artist, improviser, and recording engineer who works with all forms of recorded sound as material for composition, improvisation, installation, and listening. Employing a wide-ranging sonic art practice, Clay makes field recordings, builds custom circuits and synthesizers, programs computers to make unusual sounds, resonates objects with actuators, records micro-sounds with contact microphones, dabbles with digital video, and improvises playing the laptop as a solo performer as well as with others. He has performed and presented sounds in small galleries, living rooms, museums, various sized concert halls, and at international festivals. Clay is currently the Director of the Computer Music and Experimental Media studios at the Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts and is co-director of the Experimental Sound Practices program.

Asha Tamirisa
Asha Tamirisa works with sound, video, film, and computational media, and researches media histories. Her long-form improvised performances incorporate various combinations of digital, analog, and tactile media—such as analog synthesizers, sounding objects, moving image, and generative text—and often seek to use the site of the performance as part of the instrumentation. Most recently, historical allegories, memories, and archival materials have been finding their way into her sensorial multimedia performances. to ocean is a new long-form, cathartic improvisation combining analog and digital synthesis.

Along with many colleagues, Asha co-founded OPENSIGNAL, a collective of artists concerned with the state of gender and race in electronic music and art practice. Asha has taught courses at Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, Girls Rock! Rhode Island, and Street Level Youth Media in Chicago. Asha recently received a PhD from Brown University in Computer Music and Multimedia and an M.A. in Modern Culture and Media, and is currently an Assistant Professor at Bates College.

Deso Duo
DesoDuo is a contemporary percussion duet residing in Southern California specializing in the unearthing of unique practices into handcrafted performances.

Kevin Good is a composer and percussionist from Las Vegas, Nevada. Kevin’s music explores silence, extended durations, and the use of notebooks. Kevin received his Bachelor’s in Percussion Performance and Musical Composition from The Hartt School and holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Performer-Composer at California Institute of the Arts.

Katie Eikam is a percussionist from Northern California. Primarily, she collaborates with artists specializing in music of the 20th and 21st century in live performances, recordings, and teachings. Eikam is a graduate of Chapman University, Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music, and holds a Bachelor of Music-Instrumental Performance (BM). Recently, she graduated from California Institute of the Arts where she received her Masters of Fine Arts-Instrumental Performance (MFA).
