Elkhorn Record Release Show with Turner Williams Jr.
Saturday, October 3rd. 4pm
Turner Williams Jr.: 4pm
Elkhorn is the musical project of guitarists Jesse Sheppard (Philadelphia) and Drew Gardner (NYC). While the duo frequently collaborates with a wide variety of musicians, their sound is rooted at its core in the interplay of Sheppard’s twelve-string acoustic fingerpicking with Gardner’s electric lead flowing through. The music draws from many sources, including folk, psych, blues, jazz, and world music. For The Acoustic Storm Sessions, which will be released on October 2nd by Centripetal Force/Cardinal Fuzz, Jesse and Drew are joined by Turner Williams Jr. (Ramble Tamble, Guardian Alien) on guitar and marks the first time Elkhorn has created an entirely acoustic album.
Turner Williams Jr. is an Alabama-born Marseille-based artist and musician. He makes intuitive classic rock trance music for electric shahi baaja and other instruments. He also records as Ramble Tamble, performs in Pure Enchantment with Ed Wilcox (Temple of Bon Matin/Arthur Doyle/Marshall Allen), and has recently collaborated with Elkhorn. He was formerly a member of Guardian Allen (Greg Fox/EARTHEATER/Thrill Jockey) and Them Natives. Byron Coley (THE WIRE) said his sound "hinges on a mix of drone extensions, note clusters, and a smattering of slowhand riff curtains containing whiffs of Devotion-era John McLaughlin that explode into spurts of psychedelic freakery."
This will take place on Facebook Live. Accessible via facebook.com/rhizomedc (if you have a FB account) and facebook.com/rhizomedc/live (whether or not you have a FB account).
