About Instructor:
Franklin Gin Chen began dance at a relatively late age compared to most dancers. At 14, he discovers a “how-to-breakdance” guide after a quick search from Google. Reading a badly written, only-text lesson of how to do the most basic step in breaking, Franklin quickly realized what it meant to have two left feet. After this failed attempt of dance, he started practicing after-school with a large group of friends at his High School’s cafeteria. Before long, the numbers quickly dwindle to a consistent two or three. It did not matter to him how many people were dancing, for all that mattered was that he felt a new passion that he never had felt before. 17 years later, Franklin continues his passion through all avenues of dance. He is the creator and founder of WondrousNYC, New York City’s first dance studio dedicated to the style and dance of Breakin’. He continues to teach the next generation of talent at the space and multiple other locations. Franklin also performs currently with Nets Team Hype, Brooklyn Nets’ male dance team, competing on a national and international level with his crew The Obsessions, and doing commercial work with his agency, Prestigious Models. He continues to strive in improving his dance, but has expanded into my creative avenues such as creating short films, photography, choreographing new works, and organizing events for the dance community and general public.
