Pop Gym is a grassroots project working to bring free and
low cost self-defense and martial arts workshop to individuals and
groups all over. Started in 2017, we've done hundreds of events around
NYC and beyond, working with community centers and orgs to bring this
vital training to those who need it most.

Instructor Name: Grey (He/They)
Grey is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae-Kwon-Do who has been
leading trainings with Pop Gym since 2017. Additionally, he has trained
a number of years in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and boxing, and has
led or assisted with self-defense workshops in NYC for almost 6 years.
The purpose of this workshop is to show attendees
some basic, easy to practice skills and strategies to help manage
distance in a potentially physical situation. In this workshop, we'll
cover topics such as what we mean when we talk about self-defense,
awareness, striking fundamentals, and a whole bunch of strikes that
folks can take and practice on their own to up their self-defense game!
