Molly’s Story
Welcome to Molly’s Bookstore: A Story Worth Reading!
Hi! My name is Andrea Iriarte Dent and I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. I have two favorite things to do: travel and reading. When I travel I map out all of the independent bookstores in the towns and cities I go to and try to visit as many as possible (don’t even try in some places. There are so many! And they are so so so beautiful that you may just want to move into them and stay there forever and not move on to the next one, which poses a problem to the definition of “visiting”, but that is a good problem to have). Well, time went by and I decided it was time for a career change. I had paid my dues, and it was time for me to make my dreams come true. I sat down and thought about everything that I envisioned in a beautiful bookstore and set to work. What made the great bookstores great? What made them feel magical? Which ones made you want to stay in them and which ones made it feel transactional? I wanted to create a beautiful, elevated experience for everybody. A place where everybody feels welcome and wants to come and spend time reading and talking about books. Concept and design done. Now we needed a name. We could not name it after any of our kids ( we had to avoid epic sibling squabbles) so we went withTHE favorite: Molly. Our rescue Lab/Newfie mix. She has since passed away and Molly’s Bookstore is in her honor.
Molly’s Bookstore has quickly become the place I envisioned, with cozy reading nooks for the kids, comfy chairs. It is the kind of place where time stands still and you can escape the world for a minute and just enjoy a good story. It can be one for the little ones during Story Time on Thursday, one of our book clubs, you reading from a book, or just us chatting. Also, you could be hearing it from the author themself! I still dream of being able to add some delicious coffee to the mix so it truly becomes a place you never want to leave. Maybe next year?
So if you’re ever in the neighborhood, stop by and visit Molly’s—I’ll be here waiting to hear YOUR story and share in your dreams while you visit mine.
