As of September, more than 3,000 supporters on Withfriends have pledged more than a quarter million dollars of funding towards diverse and independent culture in cities. We’re working with more than 100 organizations and a network of talented and inspiring artists, activists, and organizers across the country. Most importantly, we’ve just published a roadmap of how we intend we stay focused on these core beliefs as we scale called Making Values Visible.

It’s been a whole year since we began this journey, and the results are clear!

We founded Withfriends on the belief that cultural spaces and organizers everywhere have immense value for their passionate communities but it can be difficult to translate that value into tangible validations for the necessary hard work. We needed solutions, and we grounded our solutions in the understanding that with just a bit of infrastructure this value could be fully realized. We built Withfriends on the principle that strategic, effortless membership programs can be the bridge between that intangible cultural value and sustainable financial support for the organizations we love and need.

Every month, we host an event for the inspiring organizers and members on our platform. These events began as intimate dinners and have graduated into opportunities for us to highlight some the incredible spaces we get to work with, like Elsewhere and North Brooklyn Farms. Talented and driven people run every one of these spaces, and we believe that bringing them together regularly is a powerful piece of the sustainability puzzle we’re tackling for culture in cities.

For our anniversary party, we’ll be presenting in more detail some of the impact that Withfriends has on specific communities throughout New York. We’re also inviting leaders from those communities to give voice to their culture and discuss how memberships help make their work sustainable. There will be a panel and presentation on this at 6pm.

We’ll also have food by Tile Table Club, and great music from DJs from the Withfriends community.
